Hmmm, this is interesting, since they said after Dark Dawn’s release that the GS franchise was now their main focus.

So basically, if the fandom at large stops being so negative and takes a step back to realize the incredible amount of work and research that went into creating DD, we have a much better shot at GS4.

I think what he’s saying about “oh, maybe” is a load of malarkey, and we can take this as confirmation that GS4 is in the very early stages of production.  DD did quite well in Japan, and was anticipated enough in America that they had it translated and released in only a little over a month, something not even massive franchises like Pokemon and Zelda can have done.  So while GS4 is pretty much confirmed to happen, the Western fandom could stand to be a little less whiny, because they’re going to look at all those “bawwww this incredibly innovative and well-written new game ruined the GS franchise forever things can never be the same!!one!!!” comments and think that maybe it just won’t need an English release.  As someone who interacts with both the Japanese and the English fandoms, I can say that the former was far more appreciative of DD than the latter.  :/

Well okay…

“So basically, if the fandom at large stops being so negative and takes a step back to realize the incredible amount of work and research that went into creating DD, we have a much better shot at GS4.”

That’s taking what some people are saying, and putting it into the mouths of people who might actually like DD as a whole. I’m one of those people who enjoyed DD, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that “the fandom at large” is being overly negative about DD. The game did have its flaws, as did the two games before it. That’s a fact that I think most fans of the game can come to agreement with, because as fun and beautiful as the games were, they all had flaws to their gameplay/character development/whatever the hell else.

No games are perfect.

“So while GS4 is pretty much confirmed to happen, the Western fandom could stand to be a little less whiny, because they’re going to look at all those “bawwww this incredibly innovative and well-written new game ruined the GS franchise forever things can never be the same!!one!!!” comments and think that maybe it just won’t need an English release.”

Again, everyone is allowed their own opinion about the game, and I would not go as far as to say DD was incredibly innovative, or particularly well written. Don’t get me wrong. As I said before, I enjoyed the game as much as the next person, but you’re taking this a bit far saying that. The fact is many people still love the series, so perhaps you need to take a step back and look past some of the negativity from the fandom.

I admit that some people take their hate on DD a bit far, but then there are those who take their love of the game a bit too far as well. You need to come to a niche, and understand that you can’t just stick words into the fandom’s mouth, just because you’ve seen some bashing of the game.

I want GS4 just as much as you.

THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT EVERYTHING HERE

I want a GS4, too. And like this pointed out, most people are happy they got SOME Golden Sun, even if it isn’t up to the lofty standards that some people (myself included) had for it. There’s just a small subsection of the fandom that was disappointed with what we got. (I am a part of that fandom, I’m afraid to say). Still, with the direction that they could take with a potential GS4, I would actually be very excited to see how they would handle it. I may have a lot of #opinions about Dark Dawn, but I’m not gonna let that stop me from anticipating the same thing everyone’s anticipating - a continuation of the story that’s kept us wanting more for a decade.

Golden Sun Questionaire

porcelainxx1:

(I am not including Golden Sun: Dark Dawn in this questionaire because I’m not Dark Dawn’s biggest fan)

1. The first character I first fell in love with:
It’s hard to remember since the first time I played GS was when I was around 7 but I’d have to say Isaac. He’s just such a cutie >//u//<

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Felix .________. I didn’t like Felix when I first played GS because he was such a dick for not telling Jenna he was alive!! (Well… actually he wasn’t necessarily allowed to tell Jenna he was alive….) BUT I DON’T CARE!! FELIX. I LOVE YOU SO FRIGGIN’ MUCH! ;A;

Saturos *//w//* I would totally smooch Alex too but Saturos is sooooo sexy too c:

So past weekend, after the successful acquisition of a Nintendo DSi,

youllfindmeonaveryisle:

I started playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn for the first time; it’s okay, just not as good as the first 2. You can definitely tell that overtime it’s become more younger kid oriented. That’s how it has been with most gamboy franchises, they get easier over time.

I wouldn’t just say that the difficulty went down (because it did, really, except for the side bosses which actually did provide some challenge), but also the story went extremely downhill from there. The only good parts of the story that remain memorable to me are anything to do with Alex/Arcanus and the twist ending. Most of the new characters apart from the core 3 are bland and unimportant to the overall story arc, the story itself was a huge disappointment (the inclusion of the Beastmen is something that I will forever question), and it didn’t feel like the extension the game really needed. Blados and Chalis did nothing for me and were in no way as threatening as Saturos/Menardi or even Agatio/Karst.

Day 04: a track in the game that makes you sad.

Anything from Dark Dawn. Mostly because it exists. :(

(I actually came up with the most commonly-accepted name for this ship, too! Named for the animalistic deity of the wind!)
